The Genius Behind it all

When Gaston Leroux was a boy, he lived near the sea with his parents. Reading, writing and sailing were his first loves. As he grew up his father wanted him to be successful and to do something worthwhile, such as obtain a degree in law. Since Leroux was living in France, he was able to travel to Paris to get his degree there. He chose to study in the field of Law in order to please his father, as his father was a wealthy store owner who felt there was no money in the writing line of work. He stayed in Law school long enough to receive a degree, but after that he still longed to be a writer. His father died, soon after, leaving Leroux to inherit the family wealth; which he spent foolishly leaving him with nothing at all. He resided in Paris, working in a theater house and writing playwrights, due to his new found interest in the theater. In the theater and through law school Leroux noted that many people had a darker shadow side, and went out of his way to prove it.
